Legal Updates

All ECO-ACTIVE-BUSINESSES must be fully compliant with all relevant environmental legislation.

This section has been designed to help you identify any relevant environmental legislation that may apply to your business.  Please note this section covers Jersey environmental laws that may be applicable to your businesses activities.  It does not include UK legislation. Each law has been placed into one under a heading making it easy to identify whether legislation applies to your organisation:

  • Natural Environment

  • Animals

  • Agriculture

  • Fisheries

  • Water

  • Waste

  • Built Environment

  • Other – please record any other environmental legislation that applies to your organisation, this may be regulations that you must comply with due to your supply chain or the market that you are supplying.

Water and waste legislation must be reviewed by all organisations taking part in ECO-ACTIVE BUSINESS as they are likely to be applicable to all businesses.

Direct links are provided to the legislation text on the Jersey Legal Information Board website.  The legislation should be reviewed to ensure your business is not in breach of any of the terms of these laws.

For every piece of legislation that is applicable you will need to provide details of the section of the law that is applicable and why it applies to your organisation.  This section asks you to demonstrate how your business or organisation makes sure that it is compliant with the legislation, and if non-compliant, what will be done to achieve compliance in the future.  It is very important that an individual must also be designated as responsible for ensuring compliance.

Make sure you make a copy of your completed form and include a copy of the completed legislation checklist in your Level 1 Dossier. This document will need to be kept up to date by your ECO.

If you have any questions or are not sure whether a piece of legislation is relevant to your organisation please use the contacts provided to find out more. It doesn’t cost to ask, but it could cost a lot if you don’t find out.
